Stefanie Mnayarji

for Winchester School Committee

ENSURING EVERY VOICE IS HEARD,
EVERY CHILD THRIVES.

I moved to Winchester eight years ago for its schools, and when I saw areas for improvement, I got involved. Through roles with the Town Meeting, Winchester Parents’ Inter-School Council, TMMA, Ambrose School Council, and as Ambrose PTO President, I’ve worked with families, educators, and administrators to find solutions to our community’s challenges as well as opportunities for growth.

Using my training as an economist, statistician, and Fintech consultant,  I bring a skill set that is focused on analytics as well as collaborative leadership; I hope to use my expertise to address the funding challenges that our school budget is facing and ensure our investment in our schools is optimizing the classroom experience.

I have worked tirelessly to support initiatives towards literacy reform and curriculum review, intentional use of technology including a review of personal device policies in schools, and fostering a  school culture where every voice is heard, and every child thrives.

Community Experience

Transformed Ambrose PTO

As President, I restructured the organization to boost volunteer engagement and developed a robust after-school program offering diverse extended learning opportunities such as Spanish, Mandarin, and Green STEM.

Superintendent’s Literacy Survey Team

As an appointed delegate, ensured teacher, parent, and student voices were represented in the survey process to produce a report that is now a roadmap for curriculum reform.

Addressed Literacy Concerns

Collaborated with teachers to create a free, after-school, evidence-based reading support for students of all abilities.

Parent Movement for Technology Policy Change

Organized efforts that resulted in the implementation of a smartphone-free policy at elementary schools.

Townwide Collaboration

Using my experience in PTO leadership, I helped Parent Associations across all of our elementary schools’expand their funding sources and create new programs and initiatives.

Parent Committee Chair at Children’s Own School

During COVID, I worked with administrators, teachers and parents to help keep the schools safe and operational; mobilized parent support and secured resources to meet this goal.

If the current School Committee members are re-elected, there will be a significant underrepresentation of our public elementary school families,  and we will all have to live with the long term consequences of their decisions. As the mother of a 1st grader and 4th grader in our public schools, I am in it for the long haul and have a vested interest in the entire K-12 system.

Commitment

  • Strategically invest in our schools to push the boundaries of academic excellence while also balancing students’ well-being.

  • Use my background in finance to assist with the budgeting process; make fiscal decisions focused on the classroom experience and funding the implementation of high quality curricula.

  • Evaluate math and literacy programs and support teachers in adopting the best evidence-based teaching methods.

  • Identify the best building and funding plan for a new Muraco School.

  • Evaluate whether schools should be bell-to-bell smartphone-free to improve focus and support students’ mental health. Assess the intentional use of technology in the classroom while also preparing our students for a future with AI.

I am a London School for Economics trained Economist, Entrepreneur, and Town Meeting Member. However, there is no greater honor than being called “The PTO Mom” and with your support, School Committee Member.
